Senior Services Associates, Inc. is non-profit agency dedicated to sustaining and improving the quality of life for mature adults by providing access to the social services they need. We are dedicated to preserving their independence, promoting mental and physical well-being and protecting their rights and dignity. Senior Services Associates, Inc. was incorporated in Elgin in 1973. Then know as "The Elders", we initially provided adult day care services only. In 1976, we expanded to become a multi-purpose senior center, which included Information and Assistance as well as Outreach Services. The name was changed to the Greater Elgin Senior Center. In 1983, the Illinois Department on Aging appointed the Greater Elgin Senior Center to serve as the Case Coordination unit for Kane and Kendall Counties. The name changed once more in 1984 to the current name, Senior Services Associates, Inc. At that point, the organization assumed responsibility for Case Coordination and "RSVP" (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) for McHenry and Kane County, and implemented a variety of other programs geared to provide for the needs of independent seniors in the area.
